About this listing
Here's a Gibson Les Paul Special, made in the USA in 1997. It is in excellent condition for a nearly thirty year old guitar, with only the smallest signs of use. It features a solid mahogany body with mahogany set neck, an excellent rosewood fretboard with ivory binding. tune-o-matic bridge, and Grover mini tuners. It has some light scratches and very tiny marks, but they are few, and are not easily seen, as the photos show. There is none of the typical wear you'd expect from a guitar of this vintage--no marks or dings on the edges, no belt buckle worming. It has been very well cared for. The stock pickups were noiseless Gibson P-100s, which were not bad sounding, but did not capture the P-90 tone as they were supposed to. So those pickups have been replaced by Wolfetone Mean and Meaner P-90s. The Mean, in the neck position, reads 8k, and the Meaner, at the bridge, is 9k. It's a hot P-90 tone that sounds great clean or driven. The rosewood fretboard has been rubbed with bore oil, and equipped with Ernie Ball 11-48 gauge strings. It weighs-in at a comfortable 8.2 pounds. It's a sweet looking old Gibson that is a pleasure to play. It comes with a hardshell Gibson Les Paul case which has only a few exterior scars, and is totally clean within. If you've been seeking a nice example of this model, give these photos a good look.
