Although this particular instrument does not bear a label or signature, it shows typical signs of guitars made by Franz Schallowetz in his early years. Franz Schallowetz (1858-1934) was a Bohemian instrument maker well known for his orientation to the Russian market. He made a large number of balalaikas, zithers and seven-string guitars during his lifetime.
Most of this instrument remains original. There was no material replaced, original finish was also preserved. Some small cracks were professionally sealed and cleated.
The guitar has been strung with medium tension Savarez nylon strings.
