Mandolin players and collectors of rare instruments,
Presenting a 20-year-old masterpiece - an original alto mandola crafted by the renowned artist Arik Kerman. In the early 2000s, the first Kerman quartet Group was established, and as a requirement for their quartet, Arik Kerman was commissioned to build two rare instruments - an alto mandola and a mandocello.
The quartet members were well aware that the mandola would need to fulfill viola functions in challenging ways, with the ability to play in a high register and provide the player with ample freedom at the end of the instrument's neck. That's why the mandola features a smooth cut on the top of the body. Mr. Kerman put a lot of thought into designing this instrument, ensuring maximum playing comfort in the upper register while still retaining the warm and distinct sound characteristic of Kerman's instruments.
This mandola is the only one built by Kerman in this particular way, and it produces a rich, resonant tone that makes it ideal for chamber music and solo performances alike.
