A Vintage, Traditional model Charango of unknown origin or maker.
Known as "The South American Super Ukulele", the Charango is a Andean stringed instrument of the Lute family.
Widespread in the Andean regions of South America, it would have originated after European stringed instruments were introduced by the Spanish during colonialization.
This is a traditional Charango, made with a shell from the back of an armadillo, with a spruce top, and mahogany neck.
Brass frets produce a lovely warm sound, and it is a surprisingly loud instrument.
It features a celluloid pickguard and stunning marquetry all over. Solid mahogany bridge piece,
Sound-wise, it is pretty similar to a ukulele. It is tuned G-C-E-A-E, with each string doubled. This is very similar to Ukulele tuning, and most Uke chords can be played on it.
The top has been refinished due to condition issues, and the frets have all been levelled, crowned and polished.
The tuning machines have been stripped, cleaned and restored. One tuning button is different from the rest.
Fitted with high-quality Normal Tension Aquila strings.
The armadillo shell has one small bit of damage, in the middle of the head, as pictured. It is stable, but visible. Condition is fantastic apart from this.
I am supplying this with a Lanikai Concert-size Ukulele Hard foam case. With spacers, it fits nicely, as pictured.
I have been working on guitars for the better part of a decade, building electric guitars and working on acoustic instruments of all types.
Guaranteed for 6 months, covering any failures relating to normal, regular usage.
