About this listing
We have received a used Gibson USA ES-175 Vintage Sunburst (1998). The ES-175 debuted in 1949, just before the 1950s saw the expansion of Gibsonfs full-acoustic electric guitar lineup. Equipped from the start with a single humbucker pickup in the front position and a 1-Vol/1-Tone control, it features a Florentine cutaway and was designed with playability in mind, making it a favorite among many guitarists, particularly jazz musicians. The body is constructed of laminated maple (maple/poplar/maple), with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard, and features a set-in neck. The headstock features the Gibson logo and crown inlays, and is equipped with Kluson-made Gibson Deluxe tuners. The bound neck, adorned with double parallelogram inlays, features 20 medium jumbo frets and a slightly thinner profile for a comfortable grip. It is equipped with "Rhythm '57 Classic" and "Treble '57 Classic" pickups, and features 2-volume, 2-tone, and 3-way selector controls. The hardware is nickel, and it features an ABR-1 bridge with a rosewood base and a trapeze tailpiece. The finish is Vintage Burst. There are scratches and dents from use; approximately 70% of the frets remain, and the truss rod has been confirmed to turn 60 degrees in both directions. There is an extra strap pin hole at the neck heel, and a strap pin is installed on the body side of the neck heel. The top has sagged slightly, and there is a crack in the headstock; however, Gibson has repaired the headstock break with adhesive and refinished the finish, so it is in perfect playing condition.
