For sale is this single “obscure” Neumann SRM64 from 1967. It consists of a KM64 body with a AC701k tube inside, and a KK64 cardioid capsule. They both work and sound perfect, very low selfnoise and they clearly haven’t seen many use. The typical smooth tube sound of these early KM series is really amazing, with a gorgeous low-end. The -10db switch works.
The nickel Km64 body has serial nr #449, with extension sleeve nr SRM64 #85.
Following a check with Neumann at was manufactured in 1967.
It comes with the original Neumann felt-lined box which is also in near mint condition.
The SRM64 was the stage version of the KM64, meant to provide an elegant non-obtrusive on-stage microphone for television shows etc. The gooseneck can be adjusted in height by loosening the fixation ring on the SRM sleeve. A bit like the AKG‘s used during the Beatles recordings.
The original base is not included since it’s lost, but it can be clipped into std Shure mic holders very easily and pointed towards the source that way.
A true museum-piece each, since these very seldomly come up for sale. I own 4 more of these. They once belonged to the RTBF (Belgium’s Francophone Radio & Television) studios in the French-speaking side of Belgium.
The asking price is estimated according the excellent (near mint) condition, the current values of AC701k tubes/mics and the fact that these are just very very rare collector pieces. Do send me an offer if you like to make a different valuation (I’ll listen to any offer or proposal), or for more information on the other ones. The kit will be shipped with DHL express, fully insured, anywhere in the world, at the buyer’s expense. The box are quite large.
