Obscenely Rare - Original Roger Mayer RM58 Stereo Limiter - From the Legendary SARM Studios in West London.

This recently Had a full Servicing from Funky Junk. Not that I've had the chance to compare (as these things are Incredibly rare) but all seems to be functioning as it should be

The Right VU Meter cover is missing, and the tip of the right needle has been re-applied. The needle on the right does not read the same as the left as the cover holds the needle in place slightly higher to where it naturally sits. In stereo the parameters link so an accurate read can be taken from the left. You can see the little screw at the bottom of the left. I have yet to be able to find replacement meter but I'm sure there's one out there. Other signs of ware are documented in the photos. It is 50+ Years old. In the pictures you can see Freddie Mercury in studio with the limiter (maybe he stole the VU meter cover...) And the last sold listing for £6,515.65. The missing cover and condition reflects the price of this listing.

It's a wild beast, I have no idea how it manages to turn the smallest impulse into the most explosive sound but it does. It makes things sound naturally energised and larger, like they were played with more impact as opposed to just simulating that. Which makes sense to why they are adored by Butch Vig. A way I've demonstrated it to people is by putting a mic at the far side of the room and gently clapping, then pushing it through the RM58. It sucks all the room in the most natural and transparent way making even a small clap sound huge like it was played with palm shattering velocity. ; )
