*Authentic "F.N. Voirin" French Master Violin Bow

Francois Nicolas Voirin was probably the most famous of all Master Bow makers the 2nd half of the 19th Century. He was cousin to JB Vuillaume and lived in Paris after his training. The bow is a light octagonal stick into a round skinny stick of pernambuco unbelievably strong. Voirin had access to some of the best and strongest pernambuco for Violin Bow making. This bow is sterling silver mounted. It’s feel is unlike anything I’ve ever encountered. Incredibly strong and lightweight. Plays effortlessly. Playing it reminds me of taking a knife to butter it is that effortlessly and floats across the strings. It has a beautiful color to the stick. The Bow has been played a lot as the Bow grip shows true player wear. Generations of people must have loved this as I do. Condition wise it is an exceptional playing Bow. There is a repaired chip to the left head, not a through repair or crack. It is small and repaired well and does not affect the playing at all. I understand that will affect a premium price to be fetched as you can find a near mint Bow by Voirin 25-45,000 by a quick google search. This Bow comes with papers stating Authenticity by Rodger Stearns. He in fact had a Voirin of his own for sale at the shop when he carefully inspected this Bow. His Voirin had a newly built button and frog repaired for 18k.

Besides the Bow being by a famous maker, this bow belonged to my cousin World Renown fiddle player "Hoot Hester." Hoot was my mentor and staff musician for the Grand Ole Opry. He also was staff musician to Hit TV Show Nashville Now. He was one of Nashville's premier session musicians playing on Billboard Hit records. Hoot is most likely the most TV filmed fiddle player in history. He has played for or on star records from everyone from Garth Brooks, Mel Tillis, Ray Charles, Randy Travis, Jerry Reed....you name it he's probably played either on the record or with them at the Opry. Hoot sadly left us in 2016 of colon cancer. He wanted me to sell his violin items and George Gruhn is handling the guitars. An addition to the appraisal paper work Hoot's widow (My Aunt) has a COA stating the Bow came from Hoot's personal collection for collectors of Country Music Memorabilia. Hoot would be very surprised how much he was loved from the response of items I have already sold all over the world. He is deeply missed!
