Pultec EQP-1As - Magnetec (magnetone techniques) tube EQ Equalizer

This device is a clone of the Pultec EQP-1A, we are proud of it and that's why. For 20 years, our design bureau has been restoring and repairing old tube sound equipment, tape recorders and preamplifiers from the era of the 50s. We are fans of old technology, we feel them, believe in their beauty and influence on sound. When details from the mid-twentieth century come together competently in the same construction - the magic begins.

If you feel like your track is lifeless, it's got all the frequencies and there's no get high, the usual advice is put Pultec on it, or our Magnetec and a miracle happens! The classic Pultec circuit, a tube amplifier, dielectrics of capacitors made of paper, oil, mica, as well as the current in the device prepared by a tube rectifier will do their great job. Each component introduces its own small distortions, and together they add up to a lively and warm sound. For example, it is very pleasant with the help of Magnetec, on ready-made vocals, to raise 8k, or give the bass to the drum a little more 60Hz and this, suddenly, will turn out to be the main paint from which the whole song will play. It is also important that we roll inductors only by hand with thick wire. They turn out a little different, we have to take them into pairs from a large quantity, and it’s also our secret and pride. Such coils are obtained with high Q-factor. They give the same ringing that any frequency filter made with a capacitor and coil is famous for.

The entire installation of the scheme was made using wires, using point-to-point technology, using a thick copper tire of sound earth. In the golden lamp era, it was done only like this! It is difficult to explain with physics how this method is better for electron motion, but the equipment assembled by the mounted mount sounds better, and we hear it. This method of installation has now been abandoned in order to reduce the cost of production, and not to improve sound. Our production still lives mentally in the Fifties and we only assemble Magnetec like that. It takes a lot of work to solder one Magnetec, you have to look for old components, test them, making sure of their reliability. There are a lot of warehouses left from the USSR with radio parts of the military complex, which can now be found and bought. We control and close each soldering with a zapon varnish.

The position of each wire was found and verified during the long production of devices. We love our equalizer very much and are confident in one hundred percent that it will add to you exactly what was missing in your mixes. This is an equalizer for making the sound real!

We have a very small staff and not fast production, so we can keep the lowest possible price for a very serious and expensive device.

• Active high, mid and low frequency correction EQ via high gain tube amplifier with tube rectifier.

• All mounting has been done manually using point-to-point design.

• The filters have vintage Soviet SGM(СГМ) capacitors based on silver and mica.

• Circuit filter has an inductor with manually wound thick copper wire on a powerful ferrite ring that provides a good quality factor (Q). Inductors are fixed with beeswax

• The amplifier is assembled with 6N3P-EV(6Н3П-ЕВ) tubes of increased durability, lifetime of 5,000 hours, they are New old stock, made in the mid-80s.

Standard version: ATTEN SEL, LOW, HIGH are stepped switches, BOOST, ATTEN, BANDWIDTH are potentiometers.
