Cao's painstaking work and attention to detail shine through on this copy of Guarneri del Gesu's 1744 famous "Ole Bull" violin. This is one of Cao's "Master" violins -- made from the finest wood aged for 100 years.
Scott Cao is known the world over for his meticulous accuracy in capturing the original essence of famous stringed instruments of the 18th Century Golden Age. This is especially true for this 2019 Guarneri copy, on which Cao has managed to mirror the eccentric quirks that del Gesu is famous for.
This Ole Bull copy has an instant, powerful response across all strings with a rich projection that will fill any room or concert hall. It is a joy to play in the truest sense of the word. The tight, even grain of the spruce top and elegant, flowing flame maple back and ribs are dressed in a varnish of exquisite golden ground with a rich, faded tangerine-red finish.
