About This Listing

Designed and Built by Hagstrom/Sweden in 1959.

These were Hagstrom's first Electrics guitars, borrowing some design elements from a 1957' Gibson Les Paul as well as incorporating materials previously used for their waning accordion builds. After assembly some were shipped to The Goya Guitar Company in NYC, USA, where most of them were wrapped in sparkle vinyl, (not this Rare Mahogany top exception, of course). Goya also installed the interchangeable pick up modules, which use an 1/8 inch plug. (This saved them the higher electronic instrument tariffs)
Everything on this was built to last and musically designed. The bridge is bell brass, the celluloid finger board is smooth and fast. The neck has a medium C profile and a nice solid feel. The high quality vintage stainless frets still look new. You can set your Strings very low on this if you like. This was the upgraded best bridge for these and has an easy height dial in with intonation adjustability.

BBending a string on this fretboard feels supernaturally smooth. And then there's The Tone.. A nice percussive attack with smooth and creamy sustain on every note. The Chambered wood body provides a very nice resonance. The two single coil pick ups sit in a floating (interchangeable) module and are good at low or super loud volume.
This guitar can sound great doing any musical style. I gravitate to blues on it and it screams with slide.
The P-24 module floats on Four spring loaded screws which essentially make it a big adjustable double pickup. Four Push Buttons configure them quickly. High, Low, High/Low and Kill switch. The one Tone and one Volume wheel is surprisingly intuitive and very easy to adjust while playing. Everything on the guitar works without issue.

One sweet 1959, Space/Glam/Rock/Blues Special ..
According to my friend at FB Hagstrom, this model is super rare and not accounted for in any catalog.
If you start searching, You'll prob see no P-24 (2 pickup 4 button) modules paired up with the A list square inlays, pointy Pick guard or the best tunematic style bridge. (The exception being a couple all black variants from the same year dubbed The Black Devils.)
This is a Rare version of a RARE model Hagstrom.

Everything works smoothly and as intended.

The guitar is all original with two exceptions;
The black vinyl wrap on the back had shrunk and largely worn away. We did a color matched lacquer restoration instead of re-wrapping it because it sounds and feels better while maintaining the same look.
(It's Easy to redo in vinyl wrap if desired.)

I replaced the original worn through rubber binding
with white pearloid strip to match the fretboard.
All else is exactly how it was 60 years ago.

Comes with a new fitted case and a pick in the pickholder, of course.

Thanks.
