The Descent has always been a standard bearer for Reverend innovation, providing baritone tone without the unwieldiness usually associated with the format. By utilising a 26 3/4” scale neck, mounted as far inboard as possible, the Descent is inherently approachable for standard guitar players. With a new, sleaker body, this latest model is even more comfortable to play over an extended session in the studio or on stage. With range of striking finishes, complemented by transparent brown backs and the new “Descent” logo on the headstock, the latest Descent looks as good as it plays. The Descent Wilkinson is outfitted with two Railhammer Humcutter pickups for hum-free, P90-inspired tone. Railhammers feature rails under the wound strings for tight lows and poles under the plain strings for fat highs. This revolutionary design from Reverend founder Joe Naylor delivers exceptional clarity and punch, that will get you heard loud and clear. The Nuevo 90 Bridge pickup offers classic vintage P90 tone, evolved to perfection. It offers all the fat lower mids, raw attack, and greasy tone you'd expect, with the tonal balance and enhanced response of the Railhammer design. The Cleancut Neck pickup offers outstanding treble chime and less mids for a more open and percussive sound.
The Descent Wilkinson is fitted with the outstanding Wilkinson WVS50IIK tremolo. Blending rock solid stability with a wide range of ultra-smooth motion, the WVS50IIK is both unobtrusive when not in use, and a joy to use when it is. No wonder it’s Reverend’s trem system of choice. Also fitted is Reverend’s unique Bass Contour control. As if the two Railhammer pickups weren’t versatile enough, Bass Contour adds a whole new level of adaptability. Rolling it off cuts the bass frequencies without affecting the trebles, making the humcutters sound much more like traditional single-coils. Dial in as little or as much as you want at any point in your set - infinitely variable pickup voicing at your fingertips!
As with all Reverend guitars, the Descent Wilkinson is built with premium components throughout, including those you can’t see. It uses more consistent ±10% tolerance pots and capacitors (rather than the ±20% parts found on most guitars), and a Pure Tone output jack with dual contacts for a firmer connection, better signal transfer, and improved reliability. A treble bleed circuit maintains clarity when rolling back the volume, while the boneite nut minimises friction, helping the strings glide smoothly through the nut slots for enhanced tuning stability.
