We purchased this 1966 Fender Mustang from its second owner, who bought it in the late 1960s and later had it repainted in a striking Sparkle Blue finish. Originally, this Mustang left the factory in Daphne Blue. Traces of this original color are still visible in the cavities and neck pocket; see photos.
The neck is made of maple with a rosewood fingerboard. When the guitar was refinished, the fingerboard was also given a clear coat of varnish. The original Fender decal is still in good condition. The original tuning machines are still in place and function properly. The neck date is clearly legible and is dated May 16, 1966.
The electronics, pickups, and pickguard have been replaced over the years. Unfortunately, the original electronics are no longer present. The Mustang plays comfortably and sounds just as a good vintage Fender should.
In short, a fun 1966 Fender Mustang for anyone looking for a vintage player’s guitar or an interesting restoration project.
Comes without case or gig bag.
