Very rare very amazing Demeter VTHF-300M 300W monoblock power amp. I don't know its date I'm afraid. They continued to make this until fairly recently, albeit in very low numbers.

I'll drop the price weekly or fortnightly until I can't go any lower so the question is: when do you jump in order not to miss out? If you want to avoid that just make me an offer.

Yes, this amp sounds as good as you have heard. For both guitar and bass it sounds wonderful and brings out huge depth and range in the sound. Twinned with a good preamp it's undeniably the best sound I've achieved. Sadly I can't afford to hold onto it.

I'm not sure where the magic happens, but it's got three preamp valves and 8 power valves. The power valves are all matched Tungsram 6550. Preamp valves are a mix of a Sovtek 12AX7, and two vintage Brimar 12AT7s that I put in. Two huge transformers complete the picture.

Output is switchable between 8 ohms and 4 ohms. The bass response is wonderful.
There is a feedback pot that I don't know what it does - perhaps it controls NFB in the circuit. Your finer ears may detect more than mine. The manual is available online or I can email it to you but it didn't reveal much about this pot.

Output is switchable pentode > triode (the latter has less power at 150W) but as in most cases pentode sounds better and has a wider frequency response = more sparkle.

Fan speed is switchable and in low speed is inaudible. The casing is so well vented that I've never had to switch the speed to high. However, upgrading the fan to a more modern unit would probably be the one thing you could do to improve this piece of vintage craftsmanship.

Conveniently, power tube bias is available from the front panel without opening the amp.

The amp occupies four rack spaces.

Voltage is switchable between 230V (Europe/UK) and 115V (USA/Japan)

Official blurb: "Designed for heavy duty use, the VTHF-300M is equally at home in the studio or on the road. Its all tube high fidelity design rivals and surpasses the sound quality of many of the so-called audiophile amplifiers, yet sells for substantially less. Its awesome power (300 W RMS pentode/150 W triode) can run any speaker through its paces with the accuracy, definition and fullness that only tube amplifiers can deliver. Featuring a custom designed and high current bifiler audio output transformer, regulated B+ to the preamplifier section, individual output tube bias for long tube life, pentode/triode switch, variable feedback control, heavy duty binding posts, gold plated RCA input connector (1/4 phono and Jensen balanced 3-pin also available), optional two speed fan, toroidal power transformer, solid power supply (880 mf @ 800 volts), Demeter selected tubes, a beautiful heavy duty aluminum and steel chassis, all hand built construction in the U.S.A. using only the best quality components."

From the Bass Player Magazine review:

“It's hard to go back to a solid-state power amp after listening to the VTHF-300M's heavenly sound. this powerhouse is also one of the few pieces of professional audio gear that's equally at home kicking out a 4-string funk as it is filling a living room with Mozart. You'll probably have to save a ton of pennies to afford one, but it will put a smile on your every time you use it.”

I will ship this worldwide and have successfully shipped equally large amps without problem. The shipping rate includes full insurance. Any questions, please ask.

I am not a dealer, I am just a slightly too enthusiastic amp fan.
