Overview
Vega of Boston was a major player in the Banjo market with roots going back to 1889. In the '30s, Vega begin producing guitars as well including the dreadnought Profundo. This guitar was built until the '50s, and was made with a either a Mahogany or Rosewood body. Vega was acquired by Martin in 1970 then sold to an overseas company in 1980. The brand was then purchased by Deering in 1989.
