About this listing
The Kalamazoo Reverb 12 is a point to point, 12 watt, 1x10 inch combo made in Chicago. It features spring reverb and tremolo. The amp was recently serviced to replace filter caps, bypass caps, and some off value resistors. The 4 pin tremolo footswitch jack has been replaced with a standard 1/4 inch jack (footswitch no included). A grounded 3 prong plug has been added. All pots, jacks, and tube sockets have been cleaned. The Tolex has various tears as seen in the photos. The Kalamazoo Reverb 12 puts out 12 watts through a 10 inch speaker. The power tubes are EL84 (2) and the preamp tubes are 12AX7 (3). It is a one channel amp with two inputs. Controls include Loudness (volume), Treble (with on/off switch), Bass, Frequency (tremolo), Depth (tremolo), Reverb. The speaker is a CTS that dates to 1967. In terms of tone, the amp stays clean at noon on the volume then starts to break up around 1:00. At 3:00, the amp hits its sweet spot with excellent overdrive. At full volume, the distortion is very musical while the bass stays tight. The tone gets darker as the volume is increased but the treble and bass controls do a great job at shaping the tone. The spring reverb is VERY strong. It goes from subtle to over the top surf. The footswitchable tremolo is very smooth with a good range of speeds.Overall, this is a well built and great sounding amp that would do well at a gig or in the studio.
