Original Baldwin/ Burns Buzzaround 1966

Allegedly The Holy Grail of fuzz pedals!

This pedal has some alterations/mends which are, as far as I can tell, as follows…

1/ a 12mm hole milled into the side of the case - this may have been done as a “battery present” viewer - it in no way effects the sound of this pedal. The hole is approximately 1/2” and has a rubber plug inserted.

2/ the balance knob at some point has been changed to a chicken head knob - hard to say what it’s made of but it looks it was done a long time ago by the design.

3/ The sustain pot looks like it’s been replaced - again this must have been done some while ago as it’s a vintage pot. As this is not an active component as such I don’t think it will impart any colour to the output.

4/ I purchased a brass slotted machine bolt to hold the unit together as the original steel Cheesehead screw was missing.

5/ Two of the switch wires were frayed at the switch and were in danger of becoming detached - they have been carefully trimmed , the tabs cleaned and resoldered with leaded solder.

The metal work itself is in good shape with a couple minor bends and dents on the edge of the sloped, folded steel. The paint has in places worn off and there is only minor surface rust.

The base is also scuffed and scratched but the original rubber feet are all present. The Perspex/plastic panel has some scuffs too.

I have no other Buzzaround to compare it to but it sounds absolutely shit hot to me! What they say about these pedals appears to be true - from deep fuzz to the subtlest of tones it imparts an incredible dynamic and immensely playable dimension to your tone.
