This is a vintage Gibson McCarty "Finger Rest" pickguard with a built-in pickup from the 1950s. These were designed to amplify archtops without getting in the way of their natural tone or its strings. Originally, these came stock on L-7's, but were eventually only offered as an accessory. The pickup is very similar to a P90 - both in construction and output - but maybe not as pointed and a bit smoother.
This particular one is made for a non-cutaway archtop. It is in great condition, and has its original Amphenol spin-on connector which can easily be converted to a 1/4". Its tone capacitor may not be original but sounds good. It also comes with a mounting bracket, which is not currently pictured.
