About Jolana:
History of this former Czechoslovakia guitar manufacturer is not clear. The production of musical instruments in city of Horivice goes back to 1889 with certain Mr. Slavik’s accordions production. But the 1st Jolana guitar was made in 1960 in the city of Hradec Kralove.
In the second half on 60’s there were three major factories that made electrophonic guitars in CSSR: CSHN in Hrades Kralove, Varhany Krnov and Harmonika Horovice .
In 1993 factory is bought by Bohemia Musico.
It all ends in 2001 when an Asian company purchases brand Hohner, one of the biggest partners of Bohemia Musico and moves production of accordions to Asia. BM is forced to file bankruptcy and after some efforts the company is forced to close their business completely. But Mr Peter Vykydal one of the partners of BM leaves and establishes New Bohemian Electronics Corporation and with help of his American partners they build a company and its working to this day.

Information about the guitar:
Jolana Disco Bass is a copy of Gibson RD Artist bass with some differences. The body is made of very light wood (probably poplar or fir). Neck is made of some bright wood (probably birch), with rosewood fingerboard. Headstock have a different shape from the Gibson's, it is something in Telecaster style.
Body, with its distinctive "RD" shape, is very comfortable , tuners are original Jolana’s.
Adjustable bridge is very similar to Fender Jazz bass, but with bigger saddles.

Condition:
  • Head – very good condition.
  • Keys – original, working good in very good condition with little scratches on the back. Also 2 of them have little bums on the back.
  • Nut – the left tooth was broken and repaired with some plastic element by previous owner. Other parts of the nut original and in good condition.
  • Neck – in very good condition. On the back it has serial number 1 887 - visible on photos.
  • Fretboard – flat and clean in very good condition.
  • Frets – good condition with typical signs of use.
  • Body – body is in good condition. Unfortunately one of the previous owners repaint the body and to be honest it is not the professional job. The body also is cracked on both sides where the neck is connected to the body. Those are definitely stress cracks. But the neck has no looseness so the cracks are easy to repair at the occasion of repainting what have to be done to bring the shiny red back to this beautiful bass.
  • Lacquer – not original to repaint.
  • Equipment – bridge, pick guard, and electronics all original, and in very good condition.
  • Addons - new strings: Glean, Nickel Plating .045 - .100
