Built for the player who wants a premium acoustic to make as strong a visual statement as it does a musical one, this Taylor Custom Shop Grand Auditorium turns Taylor's versatile flagship body shape into something unmistakably individual. The Hot Rod Black finish establishes the theme immediately, while yellow flame inlays with red purfling, black binding, and satin-black hardware give the guitar a purposeful custom aesthetic rather than traditional acoustic ornamentation.
Beneath its dramatic appearance is a tonewood pairing designed around clarity and balance. The Sitka spruce top provides a responsive, articulate foundation, while Big Leaf maple back and sides contribute definition, focus, and a clear separation between notes. Taylor's V-Class bracing supports projection, sustain, and intonation, and the Grand Auditorium body gives the instrument the flexibility to move comfortably between strumming, fingerstyle, accompaniment, and melodic playing. That combination makes it particularly well suited to performers and recording musicians who need an acoustic capable of maintaining definition within a full arrangement.
The playing experience follows the same performance-minded approach. A Hard Rock Maple neck with Taylor's Standard Carve profile is paired with a West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard, while the Florentine cutaway provides clean access to the upper register. The full-gloss treatment carries across the neck and body for a cohesive Custom Shop presentation, and the absence of a traditional pickguard leaves the Hot Rod Black top and flame-themed appointments visually uninterrupted.
Taylor's Expression System 2 electronics make the guitar ready to move from an acoustic room to an amplified stage or recording environment without changing its fundamental role. Satin-black Taylor tuners, an ebony bridge and bridge pins, a black TUSQ nut, and a white Micarta saddle complete a carefully coordinated specification that brings performance details and visual design together. Rather than simply dressing up a standard Grand Auditorium, this Custom Shop instrument presents the familiar Taylor platform through a distinctly high-octane lens: An individual guitar designed to look, feel, and perform like something outside the regular production line. Available now at Haggerty’s Music, this radical Custom Shop creation ships with a sturdy hardshell case.
