The Gibson ES-335 '50s revives the essence of the early ES-335 models introduced in 1958, faithfully capturing their aesthetic, feel, and tonal character. Designed for musicians who appreciate the full profile of 1950s necks and the warm, dynamic sound of the first Gibson semi-acoustics, this version combines vintage details with modern construction in an extremely versatile instrument.
The body is constructed with a three-layer laminate of maple/poplar/maple, paired with a central maple block that enhances sustain and feedback control while maintaining the full sonic openness characteristic of the ES-335. The finish is enhanced by single-layer cream binding on the top and back, a detail that faithfully recalls the original instruments from the late 1950s.
The mahogany neck features a Rounded "C" profile that feels substantial and comfortable, ideal for those who prefer a fuller, more traditional grip.
The rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 22 Medium Jumbo frets and classic acrylic Dot inlays, in perfect "dot neck" style of the early ES-335 models.
The electronics consist of a pair of Gibson Custombuckers with Alnico 3 magnets, designed to recreate the renowned tone of the early Patent Applied For Humbuckers from the late 1950s, offering warm, dynamic sounds rich in definition, perfect for ranging from blues to classic rock.
