Rickenbacker 4001 1969 - Mapleglo - Lefty....RARE 21 Fret Example!

Here's a factory lefty 1969/1970 Rickenbacker 4001 in Mapleglo finish. What a rare treasure! Beyond being a lefty, it’s also a super rare 21 fret example! This beautiful bass comes to us from an incredible Rickenbacker collection. Maple body, checkerboard binding, original pickups, including both the toaster and hi-gain bridge pickup, with crushed shark tooth inlays. The bass some transitional specs, which makes sense with it being a lefty. The serial number is IL353, which dates to 1969. Two pots date to 1967, with the other two dating to 1970. And it has the Rick-O-Sound stereo wirigin outputs, which became optional in 1968. So like the bass was actually built in '68! The original Rick-O-Sound output jack plate has an old repair. There was previously a 3 pin style output, over top of the actual Rick-O-Sound output. That's been removed, which left those two little holes (see picture in listing). Everything is back to stock wiring now. The nut has been replaced, along with the knobs. There are no breaks or repairs on the body. Playability on the bass is great! The back of the neck is comfortably worn in and silky smooth. Both truss rods function properly. Frets have good life left as well. Tonally both pickups are balanced and sound amazing! It delivers that one of kind vintage Rickenbacker sound. Incredible overall example for the lefties! Case included!
