Dingwall Custom Shop ABZ 2-5 - Natural

The ABZ is Dingwall's "entry-level" custom shop. Of course, that is far too irreverent an expression for this WHOLE instrument, so let's put it another way; the ABZ is a fairly frugal instrument by Dingwall Custom Shop standards and that in the good sense of the word; no fuss and just tone!

Anyway; every handmade, Canadian Dingwall is always special and a joy to offer. This is just about the most affordable Dingwall Custom Shop available, which by the way does not detract from the level of unparalleled quality and uniqueness.

So an understated ABZ, what kind of meat you have in the tub? Well; a two-piece, tone-matched, solid swamp ash body with a 5-piece bolt-on maple neck with wenge fingerboard. This 5-string version has a mulitscale with a gradient from 34" to 37", 7.25" fingerboard radius and the neck has a medium thin C-shape neck carve.

As for the electronics, this ABZ is equipped with 2 pieces of handmade, Dingwall FDV hum cancelling pickups, volume and passive tone control and a 4 position pickup switch (bridge, bridge/neck parallel, bridge/neck series, neck); a pickup and wiring setup that is actually similar to that of a classic Jazz bass, with the bonus of series wiring of both pickups.

With this ABZ you can basically tackle all styles. We can't imagine anything else! It is both modern and also traditional enough, punchy and very well balanced. Everything about this bass feels and sounds like the absolute hi-end instrument it is.

It is also a lightweight at 3.56Kg (7.84lbs).
