Sheldon Dingwall produziert bereits seit den späten 1980er-Jahren Instrumente im kanadischen Saskatoon. Nachdem er anfangs Custom-Hälse und -Bodies für Musiker lokaler Bands hergestellt hatte, stellte er 1993 mit dem Voodoo-Bass sein erstes eigenes Bassmodell vor.

Das Ziel ist einfach: Dingwall möchte, dass sich die Haare im Nacken jedes Mal aufrichten wenn man einen Solchen spielt! Für deren Handwerksteam ist der Instrumentenbau die faszinierendste und erfüllendste Erfahrung, die man sich vorstellen kann. Es ist der Treffpunkt zwischen der technischen Welt der Physik und des Ingenieurwesens und der emotionalen Welt der Seele und Leidenschaft. Instrumente von vor Jahrhunderten werden auch heute noch geschätzt und von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben. Dingwall glaubt, dass deren Instrumente das gleiche Erbe haben werden. Aus diesem Grund wird jedes Instrument mit Leidenschaft und Ehrfurcht hergestellt.

Bassisten, welche im Studio oder Live einen Dingwall im Gepäck haben, hören ausschließlich Lob von Toningenieuren.Warum? Wegen des Fächerbund-Systems! Es dreht sich alles um den großartigen Grundton, den dieses System erzeugt: Eine gleichmäßige Spannung von Saite zu Saite, kräftige Grundtöne ohne schlechte Obertöne sowie keine schlaffe B-Saite! Wie in einem Klavierflügel... die tiefen Saiten sind länger und die hohen Saiten kürzer! Das erzeugt die richtige Spannung und die richtige Länge für jede der Noten, um authentisch zu klingen.

Sheldon Dingwall has been producing instruments in Saskatoon, Canada since the late 1980s. After initially making custom necks and bodies for musicians from local bands, he introduced his first own bass model in 1993, the Voodoo Bass.

The goal is simple: Dingwall wants the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up every time you play one of these! For their team of craftsmen, making instruments is the most fascinating and fulfilling experience imaginable. It is the meeting point between the technical world of physics and engineering and the emotional world of soul and passion. Instruments from centuries ago are still valued today and passed down from generation to generation. Dingwall believes their instruments will have the same legacy. For this reason, each instrument is made with passion and reverence.

Fan bands make the difference! Dingwall basses are synonymous with great tone, definition and the "Best-B in the Business!" Bass players who have a Dingwall in their studio or live only hear praise from sound engineers. Why? Because of the fan-bundle system! It's all about the great fundamental tone this system produces: an even tension from string to string, strong fundamentals without bad overtones, and no floppy B string! Like a grand piano... the low strings are longer and the high strings are shorter! This creates the right tension and length for each of the notes to sound authentic.
