Up for sale is one of the best, if not the best Soviet ribbon mic - OKTAVA ML-19. In very good overall condition and 100% fully working order. Was just fully checked by number one Soviet mics experts from AEG. Made in the USSR in 1984. SN #8025. Comes with it's original black holder. Neutrik balanced XLR and Canare high-grade mic cable installed. Ready for a long studio work just right out of the box! In our studio we called it "guitar mic", most of the times we used it to record electric guitars from the cab, sometimes as a second mic for acoustics. But also it sounds very good even on vocals... By the end of 1980`s, ribbon technology was seen as an anachronism by OKTAVA management and the successful ML-19 mic was discounted. ML-19 had been used extensively for studio and concert recording of music and speech. Now, in the new millenium, the vintage sound of ribbon microphones is being re-discovered by engineers and producers everywhere. ML-19 provides offers an extremely well balanced frequency spectrum. Unlike traditional bi-directional ribbon mics, it delivers good HF reproduction, which gives a smooth and articulate voice to acoustic guitar, violin and voice. ML-19 is a unidirectional ribbon microphone, most ribbon microphones are bidirectional. ML-19 is somewhat unique in that it has a Cardioid pickup pattern.
