Slingerland 22/13/16/5.5x14" Radio King Drum Set - 1950's Blue Sparkle

Here is a stunning Slingerland set, made right here in Chicago it the 1950's! This would have been just when the new sound king lugs were replacing the stream lined lugs of the past. The kit in the attached 1955 ad is precisely this drum set. As you can see the 13" tom has the bigger lugs, this is original and correct. These shells are 3 ply mahogany with poplar inner and large maple re rings. The bearing edges are round over and really contribute to the vintage sound you can only get from an old Slingerland. The hoops are chrome over brass and they called them rim shot hoops in the fifties, but they were later branded Slingerland stick savers. These brass hoops give you killer rim shots, nothing quite like it!! The wrap is blue glass glitter and has some wear and tear but very little for it's age. near the badge these is a little crack in the wrap, you can see it in the pictures. The clam shell strainer it often troublesome and finicky, but this one works well and the snare sounds good - nice and dry great for recording in a large room with minimal muffling. Really cool piece of Chicago history here, just imagine being there at 1325 Belden in Lincoln Park Chicago and seeing this kit come off the production line!
