Up for sale, a 2013 Fender Classic Player Special Jazzmaster in exceptional condition with a host of upgrades. This guitar features both the Mastery M1 bridge and OMV-P polished chrome Offset Vibrato, two key hardware upgrades that vastly improve the performance of any Jazzmaster. Additionally the stock P-90 style neck pickup has been paired with a hand wound Curtis Novak PAF humbucker in the bridge position that cleanly mounts to a Jazzmaster-sized bobbin with a custom cover. These upgrades alone cost over $500, not to mention a clean shielding of all of the body routes to ensure the lowest possible noise and cleanest signal.
Both in terms of tone and feel this is a very impressive Jazzmaster and a ton of guitar for the money, dialed in to perfection with 11-50 strings and low action. While the neck position P-90 has plenty of single coil growl and glassy articulation, the bridge position PAF wound by Novak has that very sweet and harmonic rich character that defines Gibson's most revered humbucker tones. Pairing the pickups together is a real treat and a "best of both worlds" scenario, and there's an incredible amount of tonal range on this Jazzmaster that goes well beyond what you typically expect from the model. The instrument weighs in at 8lbs 14oz and balances well on a strap.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile with just enough depth and roundness to be substantial, yet still fast feeling for quick chord changes and lead lines. The medium jumbo frets are virtually unplayed and the thick slab rosewood fretboard boasts Fender's 9 1/2" modern fretboard radius. The headstock features a set of vintage-style Gotoh tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should, even with heavy use of the vibrato.
The wiring on the guitar is stock with the notable exception of the Jazzmaster-sized bridge position humbucker and the Mastery hardware is in great shape, with a flawless chrome baseplate on the vibrato unit. While the bridge improves both the sustain and reliability of the guitar, the vibrato unit is truly an artfully crafted piece of hardware that has the smooth and subtle responsiveness of a vintage Fender unit. The arm collet is adjustable, and the spring responds consistently for deep dives, quick warbles, and flutters. Cosmetically, the guitar is near mint, with barely a scratch on it and only one tiny ding that doesn't penetrate the finish on the lower bout treble side edge.
This modern Jazzmaster is ready for stage and studio use with a host of premium upgrades!
The original Fender gigbag is included.
