Cimar / Ibanez ST-style guitar - 1982 made by Fujigen in Japan - KILLER

General introduction and background:

Super nice and rare Cimar ST-style solidbody guitar. Cimar was the second label of Hoshino Gakki, besides Ibanez. Hoshino tried to establish a second line of guitars in the 1970s with it to further penetrate the market. The Cimar label was used until the early 1980s. The models were fairly similar with the Ibanez ones. According to the serial number, this was built in 1982 at the Fujigen factory, so that means, basically from the same people that also built the Ibanez labelled guitars. A beautiful, and obviously insanely rare piece with a bone dry ST-style sting and twang!

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-     Scale: 648 mm

-     Nut: 40,5 mm

-     Weight: 3,82 kg

-     Pickups: classic ST-style Custom layout with three single coils, likely made by Maxon.

-     Body: pretty likely solid ash or alder

-     Neck: Maple with maple fretboard; typical vintage radius and frets that were predominant until the late 1980s on this style of guitars.

Condition:

-     Body: Very good condition with a couple of scratches, dings and dongs, and lacquer abrasions.

-     Neck: straight neck, frets are well preserved (8/10).

-     Electronics: fully functional

-     Hardware: fully functional.

-     Originality: all original except the original trem arm might be missing, as the one installed is a chrome one and not a gold plated one, while the rest of the hardware is either brass or gold plated steel.

Sound and Playability:

-     Playability and string action: The guitar plays very easily with a low string action, great fun to play. Warm sounds from the pickups, also with lots of clarity. Please watch the video.

 - Intonation: pretty much spot on, fairly adjustable with the bridge

-     Sound: very twangy single coil in the bridge, chunky middle pickup, and airy neck pickup that does not overpower the other ones. Very nice Knopfler-style in-between sounds. The guitar is a breeze to play. As written above, please watch the video.

Repairs, Service:

-     Complete cleaning of body, parts and fretboard

-     Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-    Full check of the electronics, all ok

-     New 10 gauge Pyramid nickel strings put on

-     Set up as good as possible

-     Ready to be played (just tune it up)

-     No case included. Will be shipped in wrap and sturdy cardboard box.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
