Here we have a 1981 Greco EG480 from the Super Power series. What makes us especially happy is the condition in which we managed to find this guitar. Just take a look – it looks as though it only recently came out of its box, yet it is already 45 years old.

A little history before we get to the details…

Greco began producing remarkably accurate replicas in the late 1970s. In 1980, these instruments were introduced as the Super Real and Super Power series. Great attention was paid to recreating the body shapes, aesthetics and specification differences characteristic of particular years of the original instruments. As a result, these series have become highly sought-after among Les Paul enthusiasts and collectors of Japanese vintage guitars.

So, what makes the EG480 special, and what was the idea behind it?

The EG480 features a chambered mahogany body with a sycamore top. This construction resulted in a remarkably resonant instrument – lively, loud and enjoyable to play even unplugged. Another logical benefit of this design is its comfortable weight: just 3.85 kg, while retaining the full dimensions of a traditional Gibson Les Paul.

The original Maxon UD pickups, voiced in the P.A.F. tradition, deliver rock tone in the best sense of the word – open, articulate and slightly warm, with plenty of vintage character.

The EG480 also incorporates classic vintage Les Paul features, including an 18-degree headstock angle and a mahogany neck. As the model was based on a 1960 Les Paul, the neck has a slim profile that gradually becomes more angular towards the neck joint, making it comfortable to play even in the upper registers.

Both the serial number on the headstock and the markings stamped on the pickups clearly date this guitar to 1981. The instrument is completely original.

The guitar has undergone our full restoration process, including polishing of the finish and hardware, electronics maintenance, as well as fret levelling and polishing.

We fitted a fresh set of 10–46 strings, and the guitar has received a complete professional setup, so it is ready to play straight out of the box.

A new hard case shown in the photos can also be purchased separately upon request.

Every instrument purchased from SOUNDSIDERS comes with a product card alongside the proof of purchase. The card includes the instrument’s specifications as well as a detailed list of the restoration and service work we carried out.

Our instruments are carefully packed in sturdy cardboard boxes with plenty of protective padding, so you can be confident that your instrument will arrive safely.

A sales receipt is provided with every purchase, and a VAT invoice is also available upon request.
