The Fender American Professional Hot Shot Telecaster in Dark Night adds a V-Mod III Stratocaster middle pickup to the familiar dual-pickup Telecaster formula. V-Mod III Telecaster single-coils occupy the bridge and neck positions, creating a three-pickup system with five-way switching for traditional Tele sounds alongside middle and in-between combinations.
The alder body features a Dark Night polyurethane finish with a three-ply black pickguard and nickel/chrome hardware. The maple neck uses Fender’s Deep “C” profile with smooth rolled fingerboard edges and a newly sculpted heel. A “Super-Natural” satin urethane finish covers the back of the neck, while the headstock face receives gloss urethane. The rosewood fingerboard has a 9.5" radius, 22 Narrow Tall frets, white dot inlays, and a 1.685" bone nut.
A five-position blade provides bridge, bridge/middle, middle, middle/neck, and neck pickup combinations. The push-push master tone control can add the neck pickup, providing additional combinations beyond the standard five-way layout. ClassicGear Precision potentiometers are used for the master volume and tone controls.
The three-saddle Telecaster bridge can be strung through the body or top-loaded and features ClassicGear compensated brass Bullet saddles. Fender Standard Cast/Sealed Staggered tuners, knurled dome control knobs, and a four-bolt asymmetrical neck plate with Micro-Tilt adjustment complete the instrument.
