Today, we're taking a look at some of the newest bass stompboxes from Ampeg. First up is the Classic Analog Bass Preamp, which essentially takes Ampeg's classic, analog bass stack and packs into a pedalboard-friendly box.
The layout of the pedal is extremely familiar, with your general controls — Volume, Bass, Treble, Mid, Ultra Lo, and Ultra Hi — stacked on the top half, input and output jacks on each side, and an off/on switch on the bottom.

Next up is the Scrambler Bass Overdrive. This pedal shares the same familiar layout as the Preamp pedal and packs a nice range of drive tones.
Being that it is an OD first and foremost, this is a great alternative to a dedicated fuzz circuit if you're looking for a cleaner or lightly distorted drive tone. But if you're not ready to totally sacrifice your ability to get those thick fuzz tones, just dial back the blend knob for a much grungier tone that still maintains some clarity.
