Jasper was a genuine grass-roots clone of the EDP Wasp, using almost entirely identical components to the original, from a small independent maker in the UK. This is one was purchased as a bare PCB set and assembled by myself. The enclosure was a quick bashed together effort but it does the job.. It would be easy for you to add a new enclosure if you wanted something a bit prettier:)
- Monophonic synth with 2 DCOs, switchable between ramp, pulse width (osc 1), square (osc 2), and one white noise generator
- 1 LFO with sine, ramp, sawtooth, square waveforms + noise to modulate the VCO or VCF; sample-and-hold
- 24dB/oct Hi-pass, low-pass, band-pass, plus dedicated envelope controls switchable between 12 dB/oct lowpass, highpass, and 6 dB/oct bandpass
- It has a flat capacitive keyboard like the original, although I do tend to find that a little bit flaky to use. However it has the MIDI input mod fitted so you can use it as a desktop synth module and sequence it or play with a proper keyboard controller.
- Includes a soft zip-up laptop bag that fits it nicely
- Requires 9VDC centre negative power adaptor (not included)
The PCB fascia panel is does have noticeable scuffs and a couple of the knobs are a bit stiff, but otherwise in good condition, and a pretty rare item.
The demo clip sequences the Jasper from Reason, and adds a kick drum. No effects used on the synth sound.
