Fully serviced Denon DRM-540 Stereo Cassette Deck from the golden era of 1990s precision audio. This 2-motor, dual-head deck is highly regarded by audiophiles for its pristine playback, robust Dolby B/C NR, and HX Pro headroom extension. It has been meticulously gone through, serviced, and tested to ensure it meets original factory performance specifications.

• ALPS Gear Restoration: The critical takeup reel table drive gear was completely stabilized and reinforced using a hand-tensioned copper wire clamp and specialized bonding agents.
• Stress Relief Modification: To prevent future cracking, the gear's bore was double-countersunk from both sides using a conical diamond file. This leaves a centralized original-diameter ridge for perfect axial alignment while permanently relieving the outward wedging pressure of the metal motor axle.
• New belts, relubed. As well capstan motor front bushing lubricated.
• Calibration & Cleaning: The tape path, capstan flywheel, and tape heads have been deep-cleaned with 99% isopropyl alcohol and demagnetized. Pinch rollers treated with xylene based rubber renewal compound, great grip and condition. The mechanism runs whisper-quiet, and the head-sled engages smoothly and flawlessly.

Cosmetic & Functional Condition

• Functional: 10/10. Plays, rewinds, fast-forwards, and records perfectly. Bias controls, fine-tuning knobs, and beautiful fluorescent peak meters work exactly as they should.
• Cosmetic: Very good condition with only minor faceplate scuffs consistent with age, top casing shows marks, scratches. Please see photos for exact detail.
