Polaris USA Lawsuit Explorer 1982 custom Creme, Hipshot tuners Schaller hi gain 50's humbuckers

This guitar was made in 1982 at the Polaris Electronics Company in Eugene OR.
it is one of a dozen produced before a cease and desist letter was issued by the big G. It has a set of new Schaller West German gold tone '57 high gain pickups.
this baby puts out what you need for any situation tone wise! un-real! lots of sustain from the solid set neck and mahogany body. Nice top hat knobs. There are various bumps and dings in the finish as you would expect from an instrument this old. there are a few pick guard holes from the original. Action is low and fast. Has a  set of new Ernie ball Beefy slinky cobalts on it. New pearloid pick guard and pickup rings. Hipshot pinlocking tuners. The back of the headstock, has had small drill holes filled with dowels, sanded and re-laquered properly. These were from the previous owner trying different tuners.  Neck and truss rod are excellent condition. There is alot of natural aging and some sun fading. it says "animal" very faintly in block letters along the back of the neck. it is hard to see in the pic, but adds so much character....., hell, wasn't "animal" everyone's favorite muppet back then?

She weighs in at 8 lbs. 3 Oz worth evey single bit of it. has nice balance and rests perfectly on your lap for couch practice. You wont want to stop playing this.
