When someone mentions American-style guitar amplifiers, there is really only one name that comes to mind. And for good reason. Since Fender’s start in California during the late 1940s, they’ve been designing and crafting some of the finest-sounding and most-recorded electric guitar amps in history. Whether guitarists lean more toward the company’s ‘60s-style glassy cleans or gritty tweed-era tones, all of us revere the legacy that these amps continue to create. With their blackface, brownface, tweed, and modern designs, they are the only company that truly lays claim to the American sound.
DUAL CHANNEL ALL-TUBE SYNERGY BMAN MODULE
There simply aren’t any electric guitar amplifiers more important to the evolution of the instrument then then 50-watt, 4 x 10” tweed Bassman combo, which hit its peak in 1959. Originally created to be a bass amp - and a fantastic-sounding one at that - guitarists quickly discovered its ability to be cranked into buttery, smooth, and aggressive overdrive. While it was shaking the foundation of American rock ‘n’ roll and blues, a British music-store owner, with a clientele that included Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, and Ritchie Blackmore, built his take on the bass/guitar amp, and the British rock tone was born. Today, just about every single electric guitar amplifier out there owes its inspiration to the original or the British versions of these amps. Whether you’re a bass man or a guitarist, there’s no denying the eternal influence and stellar tone of these tweed-era titans.
If you crave the vibe, sound, and purity of a great, cranked vintage tube amp, you need to try the Synergy B-Man preamp module. Crafted to drip with the warm lows, clear-as-a-bell top end, and thick harmonic crunch of a Bassman-inspired tone, the B-Man module is your gateway some of the most important guitar sounds ever. With two 12AX7-driven channels, you’re able to instantly switch from a traditional sound to a more overdriven sound for leads or rhythms. Each channel also boasts bright and tight switches that change the tone’s character and can tame the loose low end that comes with the vintage amps. Every guitar sound you love owes a debt to the tone captured in the Synergy B-Man preamp module. Plug into one and experience the tone that changed the world.
Fender, Bassman, Twin, and Deluxe Reverb are trademarks of Fender Corporation.
The Synergy BMAN features two totally separate channels. Each channel features gain, volume and 3 band knobs as well as three position tight and bright switches.
CATHODE SELECT SWITCH:
The BMAN module features a three position switch on the PCB which allows you to configure the input tube bass response to match the original circuit of the selected module. This will affect the feel and tightness. Each amp designer has a specific combination of components that makes up their input tube circuit. We have selected the three most popular combinations which you can access with this switch. For example, Friedman modules use position 2. The USA voiced modules typically use setting 1. The Soldano SLO uses position 3. Of course, you can experiment and try any of the positions to see what you prefer. The modules will come preset to the designers preferred setting which for the BMAN module is position 1 (1.5K resistor and 22uf capacitor).
DUAL<>SINGLE SLIDE SWITCH:
The BMAN module features a secondary switch allowing the new Synergy modules to be used in older single channel Egnater and Randall modular amps/preamps that do not accept the dual channel modules. This allows access to either of the module channels when that slot is turned on. You will still not be able to switch between the two channels due to the limitations of the older hardware. You can set it so either module channel one or module channel two will turn on when the slot is selected. Set to Dual when using the module in units that have the switching circuit to access both modules. If you are using a single channel only amp/preamp, setting to DUAL will make the bottom module channel active. Set to Single will cause the top channel of the module to come on when selected.

NEXT-LEVEL POWER AMP CONTROL
The SYN-20IR offers unique controls for STRUCTURE and REACTANCE that tailor the response of the amp's all-analog power section. The revolutionary STRUCTURE feature optimizes the head for any channel by offering three distinct power amp configurations and feedback which are assignable to each of the amp’s channels. The STRUTURE feature significantly alters the overall contour and feel of the SYN-20IR.
There are three Structure modes to choose from:
·Mode A: Balanced negative feedback for a clear yet punchy sound
·Mode B: Vintage style phase inverter with relaxed mids and a bright, shimmering high end.
·Mode C: Modern HiFi style phase inverter and low negative feedback resistor delivers a modern, tight feel with solid lows and a darker high end.
REACTANCE is similar to a presence knob, but with a dynamic response and variable phase inverter which simultaneously shapes the middle and treble frequencies. This powerful control helps tailor the sound to your chosen module and Structure setting.
ASSIGN (POWER AMP) STRUCTURE and IR TO EACH CHANNEL
Right from the amp’s front panel, you can assign one of four impulse responses (IRs) and one of three POWER STUCTURES to each of the three channels. Easily manage and save it all to the included 3-button MIDI footswitch.
INDUSTRY-LEADING IR TECHNOLOGY
The SYN-20IR boasts a powerful digital engine dedicated to its four onboard impulse responses (IR) and power amp simulation in the most accurate and natural-sounding way. Utilizing an oversized 500 MHz ARM DSP processor, it delivers these professionally captured IRs with under 1ms of latency, far surpassing competing products. Add and manage your own IR library, as well as the 13 included IRs, using the free Synergy Editor software.
SEAMLESS CAB-LESS OPERATION
The SYN-20IR allows you to safely go front of house or to your recording device with unmatched response and realism without an external speaker cabinet. Superior to passive and reactive loads, whether running direct onstage, in the studio, or even utilizing the amp's headphone output, you always get the perfect feel and sound with zero compromises.
3-BUTTON MIDI FOOTSWOTCH - MIDI CONTROL
The SYN-20IR includes an easy-to-use 3-button MIDI footswitch that lets you save and access any combination of channels, amp structures and onboard IRs. With the tap of your toe, you can, for example, switch from your module's high-gain crunch with a 4x12 IR and Structure Mode C to the amp's onboard clean channel through a vintage 1x12 IR and the open-sounding Structure Mode A.
You can also connect external MIDI switchers and controllers, giving you access to up to 128 user-created presets. The included Synergy Editor Software makes it easy to assign and organize your presets for maximum flexibility.
SYNERGY EDITOR SOFTWARE
The included Synergy Editor Software unlocks the SYN-20IR's full potential. Connecting via a standard USB jack, you can easily assign different IRs and Structure settings for your amp and module channels, load and organize your IR library, save up to 128 MIDI presets, and tailor your power-amp simulation via the assignable Low-Pass and Low Pass filtering. It's all available within the software's streamlined and easy-to-use interface.
UNIVERSAL VOLTAGE
The SYN-20IR works seamlessly anywhere in the world with the help of a voltage selector switch found on the back panel. When traveling or moving to a different country and want to take the SYN-20IR with you, there is no need to re-bias the amp or use a step-up/step-down transformer – just select the right voltage, replace the Mains fuse with the correct rating and you’re ready to go!
