Fender Duo-Sonic 1961 - Daphne Blue

Here is an oldie but goodie! 1961 Fender Duo-Sonic.

Player’s grade banger. Good wood with a comfortable neck and sought-after slab rosewood board. This one sports an old refin and some changed parts but it has it where it counts and sounds great!

Body has been refinished in Daphne Blue. Looks like a pretty old refin - there’s definitely orange peel and some finish marring, along with some slight patterning in the finish visible under direct light, our guess it that it had a couple stickers on it at some point. Not real noticeable unless you’re looking for it. This was likely red originally, based on the finish residue on the neck and a tiny bit visible in the blacked-out electronics cavity. 

As far as originality, it has the original body (refinished), original neck (oversprayed), original bridge plate, period correct guard (missing shielding), and neck plate. Tuners are repros. Saddles are changed. Electronics have all been updated.

Body shows no signs of routing, but the electronics housing was painted black. Guitar has the original bridge plate with newer triple barrel saddles. Period correct guard is in overall good shape but shows some warp in between screw holes. Many of the pickguard screws appear original but some have been replaced. 

Slab rosewood fingerboard is very comfortable. Original frets show wear consistent with age but are fully playable up and down the length of the board. Slim maple neck is comfortable in hand. 22 1/2” scale length. 1 1/2” nut width. Neck heel is pencil dated 5-61. Detailed photos of the guitar interiors are included in the listing.

The guitar is fitted with newer pots and Seymour Duncan antiquity pickups. The pickups sound terrific. All shielding has been removed from the guitar.

I don’t have a case for it but I will package it very carefully.
