1996 Paulino Bernabe, Sr. Classical Guitar - With Calton Hard Case
Notes from the appraiser (Richard Sayage, December, 2024):
Hairline crack on top repaired well. French Polish and 4 cracks (caused by shipping) restored
by Alan Perlman. The guitar evidences typical play wear. Checking and staining of the
Brazilian Rosewood is standard with a fine instrument given an almost 30 year life.
Value
This guitar is valued at $18,000 within the confines of the retail market and my own extensive
experience with said North American Retail Market, given its maker, character, tone woods and
construction. First, this classical guitar is built by Paulino Bernabe Sr, which is a distinction from
Bernabe Jr. Secondly, the Brazilian Rosewood (most likely undocumented) gives an additional $3-5K
of value to the guitar, as the raw boards by today's market standard can cost upwards of $3K alone
