1995 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Bantam Elite Plus - Translucent Black

Super-rare Les Paul Bantam Elite Plus - only made for one year in 1995. We were unable to find evidence or photos of another one of these in this colour - and it was only because we located the original catalogue page (attached) that we could verify it was ever even produced!

Made in Gibson's Nashville Custom Shop, the Les Paul Bantam Series combined attributes of the traditional Les Paul with features found on Gibson's ES models. With its semi-hollow body structure and its F-hole top, the Les Paul Bantam Series is not only attractive in appearance, but lightweight at only 8lb 1oz.

It's in very good condition with some blemishes as pictured - most of which are barely visible unless you bounce light onto the surface as we have done in the photos to exaggerate them. The flame top is incredible and we've photographed this in both studio light, and in natural light (which portrays the flame more effectively).

The premium spec includes a hand carved flame Maple top with F-holes, Mahogany back, 1-piece (medium profile) Mahogany neck with long tenon and binding, Ebony fingerboard with Pearl block inlays, multi-ply binding to the body/headstock, Gold Grover tuners, Pearl Split Diamond headstock inlay, and Gold Tune-o-matic/Stopbar. It has a special 'Princes Trust' 12th inlay marker having been produced for the awards ceremony back in 1995.

The '57 Classic pickups sound superb and it has the sustain and depth you will expect from a very good Les paul and combines this with a fresh and clear sound, wonderful harmonics, and lots of attack. It has traditional twin volume/tone controls plus a 3-way switch for versatility.

Finally it comes complete with its original hardshell case to keep it protected.

It is priced to sell (these retailed at £5500 back in 1995(!) and raised to £6400 when they were renamed as the 'Florentine Plus' model - however were then discontinued as the production costs were too high).
