Signature Guitar Co. “The Oracle” model Electric Guitar. Bolt on neck, locking nut, Signature floating bridge, ebony fret board, and alder body. Pickups are made by Evan's (E-2 Splittable) Signature double Humbuckers, and Evan's (E-1) Signature single-coil, all passive, with one humbucker in bridge position, a single coil in the mid position and another humbucker in neck position, and controlled by three on/off mini-toggles, one volume pot, one tone pot. Push-pull master volume and tone controls offer coil tapping on the humbucking pickups. The guitar is in very good condition, no chips or damage to the body and only minor scuffs on the neck and headstock, the only blemish is a previous owner engraved their name in the neck plate and the plastic truss rod cover as visible in the photos. The neck is straight and action is very playable, but I recommend you set-it up to your likings. It will come with the "Signature" hard case. These guitars retailed for over $1800.00 back in 1987, and were considered high quality instruments.
Signature Guitars were originally made famous by RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson. Alex was approached by his good friend Russ Heinl, about a MIDI pick-up he was demonstrating, and Alex fell in love with the guitar that Russ had built as a test bed for the pick-up, this guitar became the 1st Signature Guitar and Alex’s main guitar, during that period, a white body super strat type guitar with floating bridge and locking nut, his #1 Aurora. As a result of this guitar, Alex helped get the company going in the early days and was heavily involved in the design and development of Signature instruments. Alex used Signatures (most significantly the Aurora model) almost exclusively for the albums "Hold your fire" and “Presto”, and they were featured during the live concert "Show of hands" (see video link). I actually own a couple of Alex’s Signature Guitars, notable his #1 (known as “Great White” in the Signature Guitar community) and his #3 that was used in the “Time Stands Still” video and during the live performances. The reason I'm selling this guitar is that I'm making room for other guitars in my collection as I currently own 4 Signature Guitars.
They were called "Signature" because, as an option, you could order one directly from the company and have your name (or anything else for that matter) embedded in a mother of pearl inlay on the 12th fret. The model name of the Guitar was inlaid in mother of pearl at the 21st fret.
More information about the Signature Guitar company:
The Signature Guitar Company was a Canadian Guitar Company that made beautifully crafted, high quality electric guitars and basses. They were located in Aurora, Ontario, Canada and existed between 1987 and 1990. "Signature Guitars - Made for Musicians, by Musicians" was the company motto and when an experienced player picked up a Signature and played it the time and care that went in to producing the instrument was evident. One of the company’s objectives was to make an all Canadian instrument that had a personal or custom feel; straight off the shelf and Signature went to great lengths to achieve this aim. They are a well-designed and balanced instrument and a pleasure to play. Perhaps more importantly their sound was very unique: clear, rich and bright yet warm and very distinctive. This was largely due to the carefully selected tone-woods of the body and neck and the custom engineered pickups. Every detail on a Signature Guitar was carefully planned and scrupulously executed. Even the inside of the electronics cavity was beautifully designed!
Of the 6 guitar models, and one Bass model that Signature produced from 1987 to 1990, only approximately 500 guitars were produced in total, making these guitars quite rare and sought after, so don’t miss your chance to own one of these fine instruments! Shipping will be at actual costs and will very depending on location and insurance coverage, amounts listed are for budget purposes. Buyer is responsible for all import costs and taxes.
