Hier kommt ein absolutes Unikat: Eine doppelhälsige, 8-saitige Rickenbacker D-16 Steel Guitar aus dem privaten Nachlass von Western Swing Star Leon McAuliffe, Baujahr vermutlich 1946.

Ich habe die Gitarre 2013 aus den USA im Rahmen einer Auktion ersteigert, wo auch noch weitere persönliche Gegenstände von Leon McAuliffe verkauft wurden, wie etwa seine Hall of Fame Plakette und ein paar Fender Gitarren, u.a. seine Nocaster. Man sagt, Leon hätte die Rickenbacker damals von Noel Boggs bekommen, aber wer weiß das schon…

Vom Zustand her ist die Gitarre für ihre nun fast 80 Jahre gut erhalten - ich habe sie gerade an meinem Amp getestet, die Horseshoe Pickups klingen super, allerdings ist der Volume Regler etwas wacklig unterwegs. Voll aufgedreht geht es. Ein Tausch würde da sicher nicht schaden, aber ich wollte die Gitarre unangetastet lassen.

Mit dabei ist der original Koffer mit Continental Airlines „Fragile“ Aufkleber. Der Koffer hat über die Jahre einige Blessuren erlitten und ich würde damit sicherlich nicht mehr auf Tour gehen wollen. Siehe Fotos…

Über Leon McAuliffe braucht man nicht mehr viel zu sagen - wer das hier liest, weiß wahrscheinlich ohnehin, wer der Mann war. Wikipedia erledigt den Rest.

Ich verkaufe die Gitarre, da sie seit Ewigkeiten nur rumsteht, und ich einfach nicht mehr dazu komme, sie zu spielen. Dafür ist sie definitiv zu schade!

Da die Gitarre einiges wiegt - sie ist bis auf die Bakelit-Hälse aus Metall - würde ich sie eher ungern versenden, könnte sie aber bei Bedarf gerne nach Berlin mitbringen, da ich dort häufig bin. Internationale Versandkosten werden individuell berechnet, je nachdem, wie hoch diese tatsächlich sind.

Der Amp auf einem der Fotos wird natürlich nicht mit verkauft, sondern stellt nur so eine Art „Serviervorschlag“ dar.

I'm offering an absolutely unique piece: A double neck, 8-string Rickenbacker D-16 steel guitar from the private estate of Western Swing star Leon McAuliffe, probably built in 1946.

I bought the guitar in 2013 from the US at an auction where other items belonging to Leon McAuliffe were sold as well, such as his Steel Guitar Hall of Fame plaque and a few Fender guitars, including his Nocaster. It is said that Leon got the Rickenbacker from Noel Boggs, but who knows...

In terms of condition, the guitar is in good shape for being almost 80 years old - I just tested it on my amp, the horseshoe pickups sound great, but the volume control is a bit crackling. It works at full volume though. A swap wouldn't hurt, but I wanted to leave the guitar untouched.

Included is the original suitcase with Continental Airlines “Fragile” sticker. The suitcase has suffered some wear and tear over the years and I certainly wouldn't want to go on tour with it. See photos…

There's not much more to say about Leon McAuliffe himself - anyone reading this probably knows about the man anyway. Wikipedia does the rest.

I'm selling the guitar because it's just been sitting around for way too long and I just don't get around to playing it anymore. She's definitely too good for that!

Since the guitar weighs a lot - it is made of metal except for the Bakelite necks - I would be reluctant to ship it, but I would be happy to bring it with me to Berlin if necessary, as I am there quite often.

International shipping costs are calculated individually, depending on how high they actually are. I certainly don't plan on making money out of shipping.

The amp in one of the photos is obviously not being sold, it's just a kind of “serving suggestion”.
