Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a classic 1970's / 80's era AKG model D190E dynamic cardioid microphone made in Austria with outstanding sound characteristics and easily on par with most fine dynamic cardioid microphones you could possibly think of from that era. If you have never heard one of these before...they sound quite lovely and have a frequency range of 30 - 15,000 HZ. This mic comes with an AKG mic clip shown as well as the padded AKG mic case in which to store the contents.
Rated at 200 OHMS. If you like the sound of the AKG D1000E then you will probably love this D190E model as the two are virtually identical in sound though the D190E does not have the bass drop off switch.
Pic # 2 shows this very model and it's basic characteristics from an old AKG catalog. The D190ES came with the on / off switch as where the regular D190E did not. The D190E model was basically a D1000E without the bass drop off lever. Both mics utilized the exact same low impedance dynamic cardioid element however.
The D190E has a smooth tone that is excellent for singing and broadcasting. Quite exceptional and the signal is very strong. Much stronger signal if you use an XLR to 1/4 inch cable however. The AKG mics were almost always very high quality and known for their durability and superb sound.
As you can see there is very is very lite wear on this mic. The handle is free of any scratches dents or fractures. Just a few very lite scuff marks. The front screen is metal and has a classic mid century look. There is no tarnish or odors but as you can see there is a dent on the upper bezel as the mic was dropped at some point. It's purely cosmetic and does not affect the mics performance in any way.
This D190E needed a new inner pop filter so I put one inside. It works great keeping those dreaded "pops" away you get from breathing or heavy wind. The mic is uni-directional and is great at cancelling out any background noise. Again...a superb mic for any live performance and worth every penny.
The mic comes with an AKG model mic clip that works very well for this mic. Grips the mic firmly. Will screw onto any desk or floor stand as well. The mic clip shows zero wear.
Also included is an original AKG D190E mic case that is in great condition. It's a padded mic case to keep your mic safe and snug when not in use. The locking top flap works great and the case will be great for resale purposes.
Mic takes a standard XLR type cable though none is included. I did clean the XLR pins inside the mic to ensure a perfect connection once a cable is attached.
MICROPHONE STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
Overall I would rate this mic an 9 on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department but I would recommend actually using this piece rather than for display. She's got decades of life left in her.
