Timo Blue River - Handmade Beech Oak Semi-Hollow Epoxy River Luthier-Built Electric Guitar - Unique Shape

The "BLUE RIVER"

This is a semi-hollow electric guitar that I handbuilt from recycled wood in 2022. It is of my own design and the only one of its kind in the world! The front was made from a old plank of Beech (that had been sold as firewood), with a river of blue Epoxy Resin poured between the two live edges in the middle. The back was made from Oak, sourced from the struts of an old kitchen table I found at a flea market. And fumed dark with Ammonia. I inlayed a large, bright 'Tree of Life' illustration into the middle of it.

It has Wilkinson P90 pickups. It has a three-position pickup selector switch, and volume and tone controls. It has a roller bridge and floating tailpiece. It has locking tuning pegs. The components were all supplied by 'Musiclily'. It is 650mm (25.5") scale length. It weighs 3.4kg. It is 100cm long, 34cm wide, and 5cm high. The body is made out of Oak, Beech, and Epoxy Resin and finished with Linseed Oil, and the neck is made out of Maple. It has 24 frets and the headstock has a hoop to facilitate easy-wall hanging. The nut is made from bone.

This guitar was made by a man in a workshop with his hands. Not by a machine in a factory with a computer. So it may have one or two minor imperfections here and there. But nothing that affects the sound or playability. There were a few small holes in the side which I've filled, with Epoxy Resin. There is a little bit of discoloration on the sides, where I sanded a bit too vigorously. But nothing you'd be able to see without extremely close scrutiny. Having worked with wood my whole life; I recently learned how to build guitars and it has quickly become my passion! I find myself unable to stop, and hope that I'm constantly improving. I love building guitars out of recycled wood, as it gives new life to wood that would otherwise be discarded. And I believe old wood has loads of character. I find old wood is perfect for guitar building, as it is well-seasoned. Meaning it doesn't warp or move.

I like thinking outside-of-the-box when it comes to guitar-design. And I like bringing new, original guitars into the world and sending them to loving homes where they'll be enjoyed and appreciated by other people.

I personally love bare-wood, hollow-body guitars. Especially Hardwoods with beautiful grains, like Oak and Beech. It surprises me how few bare wood guitars there are in the world, considering how beautiful they look, how lovely they sound, and how durable they are. I believe that hollow-bodied, bare-wood guitars have the best tone and resonance. I think this is totally lost in most guitars, which unfortunately tend to be solid-bodied, and slathered in paint.
