The Neumann KM80 series was a modular microphone system where users could buy additional capsules and swap them for different applications. Neumann made available the KK84 (cardioid), KK85 (cardioid with low cut filter). This pair of mics was originally purchased as KM85. The bodies were all the same, but the name of the mics changed according to the capsules they came with. In the 70s Neumann adopted the name KMi for all bodies, with only the capsule name changing.

I recently installed 2 new sequential serial numbered KK84 capsules from Neumann and also did a fresh paint in the bodies, as they had some scratches and some tape residual. The bodies look perfect and are almost free of any blemishes. They have very close serial numbers, with 10 numbers apart, with the very same electronic components, as shown in the pictures. These microphones sound identical. They will work perfectly as a stereo pair.

These are some of the early KM84 mics, with low serial numbers and tuchel connectors. I am sending 2 new XLR adaptor cables so they will be ready to be used.

The package also includes mic clips and a waterproof case.
