California Audio Labs Delta CD Transport

I am the first and only owner of this wonderful piece of equipment from the early period of high-end audio - California Audio Labs Delta CD Transport. I purchased this transport around 1996 and while I made a number of substantial upgrades to my system over the years, I saw no reason to upgrade from the CAL Delta.

In review after review, this transport held its own compared with a number of considerably more expensive and well-considered transports.  To get an appreciably better transport would cost significantly more. This particular piece has always worked perfectly over the years, although in the past 10 years it has been only lightly used, as all of my CD’s have been ripped and stored on hard-drive.  I had it cleaned and serviced about 12 years ago, just to ensure its good performance.  When not in use, it is always kept covered.

The Delta Transport is just that – a transport.  It has Optical, Coax, single ended Coaxial and AES/EBU XLR-type digital outputs only.  While it was originally introduced along with CAL's Alpha and Sigma DAC's it can paired with any DAC of your choosing.  My first D/A converter was the Parasound  D/AC-1000,which I still own, and since 2010, my Delta Transport has been paired with a Classe Audio DAC-1.  The Delta certainly improved the depth and stage of the Parasound, and more than held its own with the Classe.

This piece is well designed and well built.   It is works perfectly as intended. The drawer operates smoothly, and the blue digital display has only slightly diminished over time.  The silver paint has somewhat worn from two of the touch buttons (all of which work perfectly - see pics), but the remote, which will be your primary source of operation, in excellent working condition.

Considering its age, I would describe the piece to be in very good condition internally and externally. You’ll see normal wear, but overall, it looks great, plays perfectly and there are no tracking issues.

 The CAL Delta Transport has been around for years, and it still a valued piece of gear by audio enthusiasts.  That speaks to its quality and performance.  I have all original packaging, and AC power cord, and the unit will be carefully and safely packed for shipping.  If you are in Southern California, in-person pick-up can be arranged.
