Made in 1962 a Fender Jaguar pickup from the first year
The best sounding years are 1962 & 1963 - later they changed
Vintage Fender Jaguar pickup from 1962
I'm selling one of my extra 1962 Fender Jaguar pickups. I try to get them when they pop up as the new ones do not sound as good in my opinion.
The pickups changed in 1964 and sound different and blander in my opinion. These have a fuller sound and more low end than what came later when they started using different material. The wire on this is the same orange-purple enamel wire used on Gibson vintage PAF pickups. Johnny Marr tried to get Barenuckle to replicate the sound of these for his signature pickups. The Marr pickups still can't capture the sound. The new Fender reissue pickups don't sound the same because the exact original materials are no longer available.
The pickup is in excellent working condition and sounds great. It reads 7.15k
A thought popped in my mind just now. These are the same type pf pickups used in Fender's Bass VI. As these have more low end, they would likely sound amazing. I've never owned a Bass VI though, so I haven't tried putting them in one.
When you see early Jaguar pickups for sale at high prices but they have the grey bottom instead of black, those are the ones that started the change in materials and can be identified by the color of the bottom. I can't believe that people are selling those for as much or more.
