This is a Make Sounds Loudly handmade reproduction of the classic and rare Elka Dizzy Tone fuzz pedal. The Dizzy Tone was a blown out version of the Baldwin-Burns Buzzaround, which was in turn a blown out version of the MKIII Tonebender. It features three NOS PNP germanium transistors. The sound of the Dizzy Tone is massive, with huge midrange and big low end. It is not a fuzz that has any problem cutting through a dense live mix. And it has surprisingly good cleanup with your guitar's volume knob. Mark at MSL customized this pedal to include a master volume knob that can be toggled in and out of the circuit.

The controls are highly interactive with each-other. Here's a rundown of what they do (right to left):

  • ATTACK: This functions as a gain control, but of all of the knobs, it has the most control over the tone of the fuzz. Turn it counter-clockwise for thicc warm fuzz. Turn it clockwise to add some cutting brightness.
  • BALANCE: This bias control for the final transistor stage also has control over the output volume. Turning it counter-clockwise can make the fuzz a little spittier and quieter. Turn it clockwise for smoother, louder fuzz.
  • SUSTAIN: Turning this knob clockwise increases the amount of fuzz and distortion. It is also interactive with the ATTACK knob. Striking a balance between the two knobs can yield several different textures of fuzz.
  • VOLUME: The original Dizzy Tone didn't have a master volume knob. So if you wanted to run the BALANCE high, the output volume could be overwhelming. MSL customized this pedal with a master volume knob, so you can crank the BALANCE and be able to attenuate the output volume to a reasonable level. For the stock Dizzy Tone circuit, flip the toggle to the down position to remove the VOLUME knob from the signal path.

This Dizzy Tone is in mint condition. The electronics work perfectly. The pots, jacks and switches are all clean and quiet. It will come in the original box. The circuit includes a voltage inverter, so you can power it with a standard 9-volt pedal power supply.
