This very rare 1925-26 C.G. Conn 29b large-bore trumpet predates their merger with Selmer.
It is immaculately engraved along the bell.

The finish is worn around the valve casing, not quite down to brass but it has a rough texture to the touch. Around the bell and lead pipe it is still polished and pretty. There is a spot where brass is showing on the main slide.

There are two dented spots, both very minor. One on the back side (pictured) and a couple of tiny, barely percept dents on the main slide.

The playability of this piece is immaculate. The valves are lively and all of the slides are perfectly fitted.

Its really a miracle it’s in this nice of condition, being that the engravings nod towards the possibility of this being custom ordered for a school band. There is an asterisk on the valve casing and “B of E” is hand-engraved on the bell. I have had some interesting discussion on online forums about the origins of the heraldry on this trumpet.
