Apex Electronics 435 Large Cardioid Condenser Microphone
Condition Note: In excellent condition with the original box, mount/stand, and pouch without a cable.
The Apex 435 is a large-diaphragm, fixed-cardioid condenser mic with a small form factor — just ~150mm tall. It appears to be a rebadged Alctron HSMC001W, and shares a circuit design with the CAD GXL2200 and Nady SCM-800. Yet the MC001 and SCM-800 use a small-diaphragm capsule, while the 435 and GXL2200 use a 32mm K67.
The capsule has only one diaphragm metallized (which is typically true for inexpensive Cardioid condenser mics).
There is a switchable high pass filter, but accessing it requires opening the mic to reach a switch on the circuit board. The manufacturer recommends leaving the switch engaged “in virtually all recording and live sound applications.”
The body is made of machined brass with a scratch-resistant anodized finish, and ships with an elastic shock mount (Apex p/n IMC-3) and soft storage pouch.
