Rare German Antique Carl Ecke Upright Piano Circa 1890

This special piece of German piano making history was built by the prestigious Carl Ecke firm in Berlin, in 1890. Carl Ecke pianos were renowned in their time for their extraordinary quality of construction- and this piano is no exception.

Featuring highly intricate cabinetry and a beautiful sound which captures the spirit of the Romantic era in which the piano was built- this piece is something one simply does not encounter.

Condition wise, the piano is in superb original condition mechanically, considering it's vintage of 132 years.

Cosmetically, the highly figured burl walnut cabinet is beautifully French Polished, displaying patina and minor areas of imperfection, including a small piece of trim molding absent from the top right corner of the lid.

This originality means the piano still retains all the character and beauty of it's original sound, which is very well suited to the music of Chopin and Debussy for example.

The piano has been conservatively refurbished and tuned up to concert pitch A=440Hz, with all ivories in tact and a touch which is a pleasure for the pianist to experience.
