Up for grabs are my two NOVA -16 Realistic stereo speakers.....
These usually sell for around 45-60 bucks in regular used, ragged out, requiring surround service condition, but these have been completely gone over by the in-house speaker freak...These aren't your usual Nova 16's... These operate "as-new", and will last for decades... if you need a GREAT pair of shop speakers on a budget, these just might be the ones...
Most ANY modern compact , big-box store speaker, that are tiny, molded plastic, fake bass sounding, place-it-on-a-shelf speakers just don't cut the mustard... Real old-school component speakers are the way to get true room filling satisfying hi-fi reproduction....
... If you aren't familiar with the NOVA-16's, they are a wide response, ported 2 way 8" system. They consist of a simplistic crossover, and being as well designed as it is, and with minimal components in the signal path, provide a 3D presentation that is easily on a scale of speakers costing ten times this amount...
... The key to this performance, is that little high performance all paper cone tweeter that rivals the JBL LE tweeters, but we'll get to that in bit...
.. When I first got these, the enclosures were a little cosmetically challenged, but had virtually perfect grilles.... usually, the grilles are messed up with these, as they have a 3 sided internal frame, but these are basically perfect. No children markers, no cat scratches, no cigarette burns, but virtually perfect/as new condition on the grilles...
... The wood enclosures were completely removed of all components, and then, four coats of that gloss black Rust-Oleum thick black paint was applied. That stuff might as well be epoxy enamel it's so tough!!!... There might be a slight scuff or scratch here and there on them... .....BUT, I just want to bring that POSSIBILITY up, as most people only have the pictures for condition of the item... I'm pretty darned finicky myself fellas', so I just wanted to bring that up.... Other than possibly a small scuff here and there, they are evenly coated in that hard gloss black THICK paint..EVERYTHING was removed for the painting so as to get 100% of the wood coated evenly and nothing on the parts...Even the grille grommets, name tags, and input plates were removed for the painting process..
.. While all of that was drying, the woofers that were in need of new foams received new foams... They are actually manufactured for BOSTON ACOUSTICS, are an ultra high quality, with a higher rubber concentration in the poly foam rubber composition, and will last virtually forever, as they were also coated with the PMR made "ReZon-Ex" surround coating, and cone edge resonance dampening agent....They were done the correct way, right off the bat, with the dust caps removed, the coils shimmed for perfect centralizing of the voice coils during adhesive curing, and then, new dust caps were also installed on the way back out...
The woofers sound AMAZING, probably better than stock, with the superior quality surrounds, the ReZon-Ex treatment, and also the acoustically transparent/open weave dust caps installed, which allow just the right amount of midrange/upper midrange directly out of the core/coil area...
The enclosures hook up is still the original spring loaded bare wire terminals.Crossover components are still 100% original, and even the tweeters are all original and operating perfectly...I'm a BIG fan of these particular tweeters.... With their smaller diameter voice coils and pressed pulp dust caps, they have an improved dispersion pattern of the high frequencies, and that all paper cone assembly really propagates the midrange/upper midrange as if there were a dedicated /third speaker midrange running in the system.
.... Welp, fellas', I've said pretty much everything I possibly can about condition..... Performance is flawless, and rand under diagnostics/frequency swept AT POWER, with absolutely no rubbing, buzzing, holes, rips, tears, rot, or adhesive failures, these little time warps work just peachy..
.. If you happen to need a smaller pair of speakers,, and want something period vintage looking, but also SOUND great, ,,,-OR-If you need a great pair for low $$$ that would be great surround and background music, -OR- even if you just need moderate playback levels and don't need 122 dB all the time, then here ya' go!!!
ANY questions or concerns- just ask...
THANKS GUYS!!!--
Sincerely,-
- ----Jason /PMR
